Linux Deepin V23 Beta3 is Released, Upgrades 1400+ packages and adds 250+ packages of system updates

 


The third and final beta build of deepin 23, a desktop Linux distribution featuring the Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE), is now available for download and testing.

Compared with deepin V23 Beta2, Beta3 upgrades 1400+ packages in the image pre-installed packages, adds 250+ packages of system updates, and further optimizes the functional experience, please pay attention to this when installing and upgrading:

  • Do not lock the screen, standby, shutdown, reboot, etc. during the upgrade process.
  • Please ensure that the root partition of the system has enough space for backup and update before upgrading.
  • Reinstalling the system with user data may result in failure to boot after the installation is completed.

System/Installation

  • Added explanatory text on the Grub page in safe mode during image installation to prevent users from mistakenly using safe mode installation due to a lack of understanding.
  • The installer supports screen interface adaptation for 768P, 1080P, 2K, and 4K resolutions.
  • Added support for certain i386 devices' drivers.
  • Supported the normal installation of Steam native applications and game operation.


System Repository

  • A large number of system underlying libraries have been updated, and the overall system repository has approximately 4000+ software package updates (including new packages), with added support for i386, riscv64, and LoongArch64 architectures.
  • gcc updated to version 13.2.
  • glibc updated to version 2.37.
  • icu updated to version 73.2.
  • Qt6 updated to version 6.6.1.
  • ffmpeg updated to version 6.0.
  • mesa updated to version 23.3.3.
  • The default version of Python is updated to 3.11.
  • perl updated to version 5.36.
  • The default version of LLVM is updated to 16.


Desktop Environment

  • The launcher has been refactored at the code level to improve its running speed.
  • Optimized the functional layout and UI design details, enhancing the overall visual effect.
  • Distinguished between keyboard selection state and mouse hover state.
  • Added an alphabet feature to quickly search for applications using the alphabet.
  • Optimized the content switching of notification icons and date/time on click.
  • Added a calendar component to the notification center.
  • Optimized the clear notification message icon in the notification center, addressing the confusion caused by incorrect icons.
  • Optimized the icon style of the import operation button in Control Center - Network - VPN.
  • Added a new category of creative illustrations in Control Center - Account Avatar.
