CaramOS - Vietnamese desktop Linux distribution based on Linux Mint

 

CaramOS — a Linux distribution for Vietnamese users.

CaramOS is based on Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, optimized for Vietnamese users with Vietnamese as the default language, Fcitx5/Lotus input method, OTA updates, and a publicly available ISO build process.

Main experience :

CaramOS focuses on a user-friendly Linux experience for Vietnamese users: a stable Mint/Cinnamon platform, Vietnamese localization, ready-to-use input methods, OTA updates, and open-source development.

Control Center

The Quick Action Center replaces the default network, audio, and battery applets on the Cinnamon panel.

Taskbar three docks

The Start Menu is in the left dock, pinned/running apps are in the middle, and the status applet is in the right dock.

CaramOS wallpaper pack

Five 2048×1152 wallpapers with Sage Mist as the default for the desktop and login screen.

Safe migration

Remove default shortcuts from the Desktop but keep user-customized files.

Vietnamese locale

Set the language, timezone to Asia/Ho_Chi_Minh, and default Vietnamese font.

Input always

Fcitx5 and Lotus have been included in ISO to support Vietnamese input.

Popular applications

Zalo, WPS Office, and the Software Manager are pinned to the taskbar once installed.

GitHub Release cannot host the ISO directly because release assets have a
